Pau travel guide

Pau’s major events throughout the year

Explore major events in Pau through the seasons, from sport and music to culture and local traditions. Dates change each year, so use this overview to choose a season and confirm each programme with the organisers.

Major events in Pau in winter and spring

Horse racing, the Béarn carnival, concerts and mountain outings bring energy to the first months of the year. Spring then welcomes outdoor sport, gardens and the first large public gatherings.

Summer in the city

Summer often combines free concerts, open-air cinema, national sporting events and festivals. Evenings remain pleasant for walking along the Boulevard des Pyrénées and dining outside.

Autumn highlights

Rugby, equestrian sport, jazz, theatre and food events mark the autumn. It is an excellent season for combining Pau with the Jurançon vineyards and the Pyrenean foothills. Before reserving accommodation, check the event’s exact venue, ticket rules and travel arrangements.

For a short stay, select one main event and leave time to explore the Château, the historic centre or Les Halles. If you are travelling for a concert or sports fixture, check the official organiser’s page for changes to times or access. The tourist office also lists smaller exhibitions and performances that can fit around your plans. Our seasonal guide gives more ideas for October through January, while this page is a year-round overview.

Event dates and access conditions change every year. Use the official city and tourist-office calendars before booking tickets or organising transport.
